Don’t Waste, in collaboration with a medium-sized shopping mall, located in the affluent Norwich City Centre, facilitated several unique and innovative strategies in the management of organic waste streams.
The shopping centre, supported by Don’t Waste, envisioned a number of sustainability goals for 2019:
- Reduce general waste volumes and improve recycling rates.
- Create a sustainable model for its organic waste, thus saving on disposal costs, further improving recycling ratios, as well as reducing CO2.
- Improve environmental and waste cost performance
THE RESULTS
The successful implementation of the key strategies yielded impressive results. Recovery of food waste improved by a whopping 192%, followed with an impressive reduction in general waste volumes – improving by 37%.
Don’t Waste provides its clients with advanced tools to identify elements of the waste hierarchy that are best fit to their respective operations, creating an efficient and effective waste management system, ensuring the least impact on the environment from waste streams generated.
